The Napa Valley Girls' Softball Association, also known as "Kiwanis Softball", is a recreational softball league for girls age 13 to 19.  We are an established 501(c)(3) organization and have been organizing softball in Napa for more than 60 years.

ELIGIBILITY:  To be eligible, a player's parents or legal guardian must reside in Napa County or participating counties; or player must have attended school in Napa County in the past or current school year, or be registered to attend a Napa County school for the upcoming school year.

DIVISIONS/AGE ELIGIBILITY:  We have two established divisions - Majors and Seniors.

Majors Division:       Players age 13-15
Age cutoff is age 13 by April 1st

Seniors Division:      Players age 15 1/2 * to 19

* All players age 15 1/2 between April 1st and July 31st of the current year are required to evaluate for the upcoming season for possible drafting into the Seniors Division.  This enables the Board to balance the numbers of players in the two divisions each season.

REGISTRATION/WAIT LIST POLICY: To be guaranteed a spot on a team for the upcoming season, a player must register by the last day of the late registration period.  Returning players will be placed on their team from the previous season.  New players will evaluate and be drafted to a new team for the upcoming season.

Any new player to the league who does not sign up before the end of the late registration period will be put onto a waiting list and be placed onto a team if space allows.  The waiting list will be held in strict confidence and will be known only to the Registration Chair and Player Representative.  Any player who wishes to be placed on the waiting list will be required to complete the registration form and submit registration fees (to be held until player is placed on a team.)

EVALUATIONS: All new league players, and players moving up from the Majors to Seniors division will be required to evaluate at least once during the evaluation period.  All pitchers and catchers must evaluate at those positions in order to be allowed to pitch or catch during the season.

TEAMS  The number of teams in each division can vary depending on registration numbers for the season.

GUARANTEED MINIMUM PLAY:  All players are guaranteed minimum playing time for each game.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

~ Registration for next summer season begins in November and runs into March

~ Generally evaluations (Both Divisions) are held in March and Practices start in April.

~ Opening Day is generally in May after the High School seasons conclude.  Games begin on Opening Day

REGISTRATION FEES:

Regular Registration $175 per player ($15 sibling discount applies) - Dates re-determined each season

Late Registration $200 per player ($15 sibling discount applies) - Dates re-determined each season

Once registration closes, players may then apply for our Wait List.

PARTIAL PAY: We have enabled "partial pay" on our website registration.  This means you will be able to pay half your registration fees when you register, and half by the start of the season.

SNACK BAR:  Our fees include the cost of two Snack Bar shifts.  Each player's family is required to work two Snack Bar shifts during the season (a $50 value).  The Snack Bar fee ensures that we can staff the shack for every game, and that all staffers are properly trained. However, we know that some of you may want to work your own shift.  Therefore, we are offering you the option to work your shifts and receive a refund.  Once you register, if you want to apply for your refund, please email our Snack Shack Coordinator to schedule your shift.  Once your shift is completed, we'll refund your costs.  Our Snack Shack Coordinator is Dana Garcia - email snackshack@nvgfa.com.
